Mental Health and the impact you can have

Normally I like to talk about looking after yourself, however, today I’m talking about looking after others.
Mental Health in recent years has become a major topic in the corporate world and while we practice it in the corporate world we need to remember our loved ones.
As a manager looking after over 50 employees, mental health has become one of my main priorities for my staff but do you know it’s just as important in your own personal life.
In the last week, I have touched base with a few friends that I haven’t been in contact with the last couple of month. My life has been busy and I hadn’t reached out or I forgot to text back to a message and guess what. They were so happy to hear from me and I was like, geez I have been bad by not checking in on them sooner.
Making a difference in this world is as simple as making a difference in one persons life. People are struggling being separated from family, working from home and having no interaction with anyone.
Today I took the time to have a chat with a staff member while I was making coffee, I contacted an old friend and it made me realise, I need to make time for interactions.
As a boss, sometimes I let my busy schedule with meetings and deadlines overrule what is my priority as a person. Human interactions
So while it is important to look after yourself, it’s also important to talk to people. A 5 min conversation can make a difference in someone else’s life and uplift them.
So remember, no matter how busy you are, what goals you are working towards, 5 mins out of your day can make someone else’s day.
