Why do we feel so self conscious at the gym?

We all know that feeling the first time you walk into the gym. You feel that everyone is looking at you. You feel the men with large biceps and ladies with hard abs are judging you like you do not belong here. Why do we feel like this. Why do we feel so self conscious? If you give the gym a chance, you will find out that everyone is so supportive and welcoming. No one is judging you and as you progress with your goals you will be congratulated and celebrated. You will also make new friends. Friends who have similar goals of living a healthy lifestyle, who will motivate you when u need that extra help and celebrate you as you progress through your steps and stages. Feeling self conscious is normal, but it is also a confidence issue and the only person judging you is you. Just remember why you have joined the gym. You have a goal and don’t let yourself get in the way of achieving this goal.
