Beverages- The Silent Calories

So yesterday was a great day out with friends. Caught up with friends and quite a few beverages were had. Tried to be good though as I didn’t want a hangover today. Now that I am over 40, i can’t handle hangovers lol. So i was very good and didn’t go excessive with the drinking.
Woke up today feeling fine so i succeeded in my wish not to have a hangover. It wasn’t till this morning that I put in yesterday’s food diary into my fitness pal. Oh boy did i get a shock!!!
Beverages are silent calories as we do not realise just how many calories you consume in drinks. I consumed nearly half a days calorie limit just in beverages yesterday. Then on top of that went out for dinner. Needless to say I blew my limit yesterday. Oops!!!
Many people do not count their drinks in their daily calorie intake and this is really cheating yourself. You think you are doing really well and then you cannot understand why you are not losing weight. So ensure that you count your beverages into your daily calorie intake.
The other thing you really should be looking at with beverages is not only the calories, however, the amount of sugar in the beverages. There are a lot of beverages, mainly soft drinks and juices which contain a lot of sugar in them. This will also hinder your weight loss.
As i keep harping on about, it is important to make sure that you are living your life and not restrict it too much. But you also have to be aware of the food and beverages you are consuming and ensuring that you are doing enough exercise to counter act the blow outs every now and again.
So remember a lot of beverages do contain a high number of calories so ensure that you are counting them in your daily calorie intake.
