Don’t judge a book by it’s cover

So success is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone sees success as something different. While I might see success as a fabulous career, nice house, nice car and a great body, the person next to me might believe that they have success with a nice family, a modest house and a 9-5 job that they do just to pay the bills.

It is important to recognise that everyone is not the same and not to look down on people if their success doesn’t inline with yours.

So I’m going to tell you a story. I went out for dinner last night, it was a nice place with a good reputation. They were obviously short staffed as the service wasn’t great. The table next to us seemed to get all the attention while we waited. The server later told us that it was the general manager of the restaurant. Now she was well dress and had no hesitation holding up the server while she saw us waiting. I was dressed nicely wearing pants and a nice tshirt, but I wasn’t in a suit. I don’t look my age so she would have no idea that my day job is, I’m in management at a 5 star resort at one of the best resorts in the world.

So this is the perfect example of success and others judging success. Just because I wasn’t dressed in a suit, the general manager made an assumption. A wrong assumption and that is why you should never judge a book by it’s cover.

So success is an individual thing. Each person has their own success and don’t let anyone tell you what it should be
