Is blaming the media just another excuse?

Being overweight is not good for your health, but it is not good for your mental state either. In a society where beautiful bodies are splashed all over the media, why are society getting getting more and more overweight? Is it the media’s fault? Is there too much advertising of junk food on television? Or are these again just more excuses for you to use to not start a new journey. Yes, living a healthy lifestyle takes hard work, planning, a strong will power and a rigid routine. Yes it is hard when your sitting on the couch eating Carrot sticks with a bit of hummus watching tv and an ad for McDonalds or KFC comes on and you think mmm I feel like a Big Mac. Do you get in your car and go and get a Big Mac, no, you fight your mind and say no. Having a strong will power is essential to your fitness success. It’s like when you go shopping and you’re at the checkout and they have put all the chocolate bars by the conveyer belt. You say in your mind No and finish your shopping and leave. It’s all about training your brain. After you say No to your brain quite a few times, you will just naturally walk past the items and not need to think about it. Personally I can’t understand why people blame the media for being overweight. They splash skinny models across magazines and buff guys in the movies, so shouldn’t You aspire to be like that and not overweight? This is a very sensitive subject I know and there will be a lot of different commentary but blaming the media for you being overweight, I personally believe is an excuse. I have had to work hard to get where I am today. I have had to retrain my brain and change my behaviours. Getting fit and healthy is a total lifestyle change and I cannot blame anyone else for letting myself get so overweight. However I can take all the credit for my new body. So how bout switching of the tv, and going outside and exercising and today starting your new journey.
