I always thought I was pushing myself, walking fast on the treadmill. I didn’t realise that I wasn’t really pushing myself until I started doing some high intensity interval training classes. I’m sure you are probably wondering what high intensity interval training. It is pushing yourself extremely hard, giving it everything you have for 3 mins then having a minutes break in between circuits. This is normally done in a block of 30 minutes. It can either be in cardio form or strength form with weights. After doing my first class of grit strength class, I quickly realised that I was not pushing myself. So I started pushing myself and I could tell as my legs were like jelly and I was dripping in sweat. Now after many classes and pushing myself during my own gym workout, a short walk is not enough for me and I do not feel satisfied with this as a workout. I now have devised my own boot camp style program and I can tell I am getting fitter and fitter by the day. It is important to constantly challenge yourself to continue to push yourself and improve your fitness level. My suggestion, try doing a high intensity interval training class and it will give you a new goal.
