You have all heard the saying, age is just a number and to tell you the truth, this is how I live my life. Why should I act my age? Why can’t I go out clubbing and have a good time? Why should I settle down? I had a goal about 3 years ago, I decided that I didn’t want to be a fat 30 year old. Since I lost the weight my life has truly started. I am fit, healthy and confident about myself. Many colleagues ask me how old I am because of the positions I have held at work, when I tell them I’m 33 they think that I am 24. Looking back at photos of when I was 24, I was heavily overweight and didn’t feel attractive. I also lacked confidence and hid away from the world. Now I’m 33, I’ve lost 12kg and I feel the best I have ever have. Fitness, has given me my life back. I get out and meet people. Joining a gym helped me with this, and also meeting new people and attending group classes by myself made me learn to put myself out there in society. If you are struggling with weight and confidence, I would highly recommend getting into fitness as it will change your life in more ways than one. Age is just a number. If your feel fit and healthy you can achieve anything you want. Saying you are too old to do something is just another excuse. If your body allows you to do exercise, then do it. In fact the older you become, the more important it become to continue exercising. Even if it’s a small amount when you’re older, it will still be beneficial.
