I was walking around our local shopping centre the other day and i had a thought. I looked down at my stomach sticking out and suddenly thought to myself, we are always hearing that the population of Australia is getting more obese and i automatically started to count the amount of people with a belly sticking out. No i didn’t point and count. Just counted in my head as i looked around.

Well the results are in, yes we are a nation that is on the rise, not just numbers but our waist lines too. I was surprised by the numbers. I have been hearing it everywhere, on the news, in the newspapers that the waistlines of Australian’s are expanding, but i haven’t actually really noticed it until now.

So i have put on a lot of weight over the last couple of years and my belly sticks out and I do not like it. I go out in public and keep tugging at my shirt in the hope that no one will notice how much weight i have put on. However, I have reached the point now where i have said to myself, enough is enough, time to get back into shape. Especially if I am writing and promoting health and fitness.

So yes, I am back in the gym 5 days a week and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting back into the Les Mills Classes, I had forgotten how much i love doing the classes and how great i feel afterwards. But it’s the same for any work out. I feel like i have more energy, I am sleeping better and my overall health has improved.

As the nation’s waist lines keep expanding, we are going to have serious health issues in the future. But how do we reverse this? Well we have to tackle it one person at a time. Everyone needs to have an A-HA moment like i have done. We do not commit ourselves 100% unless we are ready to do it. We need to be 100% mentally committed to make the changes that we need to. Improving our health is vitality important but no one else can do it for you but you. “YOU HAVE TO DO IT FOR YOU”.

There are many people out there and many government programs ready to help you if you are ready to take the step, but you have to take the first step and say yes and ask for help. I am so glad i said yes and taking steps to a healthier lifestyle and yes, it does take planning and scheduling to get in a work out, but i am prioritising my health.

Are you ready to take the step to a healthier you?
