Reflecting on the year that has been and the learnings from it.

The last two years has been tough. At work it has further provided me with the most amazing learnings which I have never experienced in the past. After 20 years of management experience, my previous experience or my Uni degree could not have prepared me for what I have had to learn and endure in the last 2 years. So I hear you ask, what have you learnt? I have learnt that personally I have the most amazing resilience. I can be strong and firm when I need to be but I am also compassionate and supportive. The Mental Health of others is the biggest most important issue that has arisen from COVID. And guess what? It is here to stay.

Prior to COVID, our work lives were encroaching into our personal lives. Don’t get me wrong, it is still there, but the last 2 years for a lot of people it has made people re-evaluate what is really important in their lives. There is a saying ” If you were to be gone tomorrow, your work place would have a job ad up by the end of the week for your position, but your family will be lost without you forever” This is so true and remember that there is nothing with setting boundaries for your work/life balance.

When we don’t have the right work/life balance, it affects your health and Mental Health. You don’t have time to exercise, you grab convenience food and you don’t spend time with your family relaxing. Mentally, you are not getting the down time you need to rejuvenate yourself. Stress is also a leading cause of obesity and heart conditions. So now is the time to start thinking about 2022 and what you would like to get out of next year. What would you like to achieve?

With Christmas only a week away, its time to be thankful for what we have and look forward to spending time with loved ones. The last two years has been incredibly tough. Families have been separated, some have continued not to work, some haven’t been able to go into the office and had to juggle working from home and home schooling. We have all done it tough. So ensure that if you can enjoy a break, enjoy your family. Laugh, Eat Healthy, Love and Exercise.

From Markydfitness, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Thank you for following my blog
